North Nibley is a wonderful little village in Gloucestershire, close to Wotton-under-Edge.
The name “Nibley” derives from Old English and means “woodland clearing near the peak”
One of the villages's most famous resident was William Tyndale, who was born here in 1494. William was one of the first scholars to translate the bible into English. The “Tyndale bible” was used heavily by the scholars that wrote the “King James Bible”. Tyndale was found guilty on of in heresy then burned at the stake in 1536.
