Looe, is a town split by river into two separate towns: “East Looe” and “West Looe”. Two valleys unite in a narrow estuary dividing the twin fishing towns.
East Looe and West Looe are connected by a Victorian bridge, built when the 15th century bridge of 13 arches was demolished.
West Looe clusters round the quayside Church of St Nicholas and has a 17th century inn, The Jolly Sailor. East Looe has a pier and a sandy shore, and a 16th century guildhall, now a museum.
Good centre for deep-sea fishing, yachting, river and sea trips and for exploring East Cornwall. The tide journey up the West Looe River to Watergate is one of Looe's time-honoured pleasures.
