Visit Hope Derbyshire and the surrounding villages and stay in B&B, hotel or self catering cottage accommodation provided by BedPosts members.
The Hope Valley in Derbyshire is the main access route, often busy, from the Derwent Valley through to Castleton, Edale and the Dark Peak.
The little village of Hope lies at the confluence of the river Noe and the Peakshole Water.
Take a walk up Win Hill, one of the best bracing viewpoints in the whole Peak. Lose Hill, the dark twin of Win Hill and another fine viewpoint, lies due west on the opposite side of the Noe.
Hope Church dates back to the 14th century. Inside there are two stone coffin lids bearing hunting horns. the motif of royal forest huntsmen. Outside, next to the porch, is the shaft of a Saxon cross with vague weathered carvings on its face. Stone scrollwork on preaching crosses represents the height of Dark Age culture.
