Fort Augustus, Inverness, is a perfect centre for touring and ?shing at the southern end of Loch Ness. The fort was built as a result of the 1715 rising, but was taken by the Highlanders in 1745, only to be lost after Culloden. In the late 19th century the site was presented by Lord Lovat to the Benedictine Order who built their Abbey with a Cloister and tower by Pugin.
