Visit Blackpool Lancashire and the surrounding villages and stay in b and b, hotel or holiday cottage accommodation provided by BedPosts members.
Blackpool in Lancashire is a seaside town and popular holiday destination. The town began to develop as a recreational resort in the mid-18th century, and its popularity has grown with the years. The 6-mile promenade, well known for its spectacular autumn illuminations, is dominated by the 518-ft Blackpool Tower. There are four theatres in the town, and funfair thrills from dodgems to bingo are to be found along the stretch of the promenade known as the “Golden Mile”, and on the three piers: North Pier, Central Pier, South Pier. The trams on the sea-front are the only survivors of their kind in England. By contrast, there are inland walks to Anchorsholme, 4 miles north, and the 300 acre Stanley Park has a rose garden, a boating lake and a golf course. The Grundy Art Gallery in Queen Street has a fine collection of works by 19th and 20th century British artists.
