Flitwick in Bedfordshire, is a growing residential village with thatched cottages round its green and the River Flitt running through it. By the river lies the boggy Flitwick Moor in which can be found rare plants. The Manor House, much modernized, is of three periods, 17th-century, 1736 and mid-Georgian. It is of brick with a panelled parapet and in the garden is a grotto. SS. Peter and Paul Church, though mainly Victorian, has an Early English south doorway and in the north wall a massive moulding from a Norman doorway with beakhead-like faces. The chancel arch is original and the west tower Perpendicular. The font has a fluted trough and is 12th-century north west of the church is the Mount, the remains of a small motte and bailey castle.
