Visit Bolton Greater Manchester and the surrounding villages and stay in B&B, hotel or self-catering accommodation provided by BedPosts members.
Bolton, now in Greater Manchester (used to be Lancashire) was the birthplace of Samuel Crompton, whose spinning-mule in 1779 changed the face of Lancashire. He lived in a tenement in the then decaying half-timbered Tudor Hall-i’-th’-Wood, which later was rescued by the 1st Lord Leverhulme, another native of the town, and converted into a noteworthy folk museum.
