Visit Bolton Greater Manchester and the surrounding villages and stay in bandb, hotel or holiday home accommodation provided by BedPosts members.
Bolton, now in Greater Manchester (used to be Lancashire) was the birthplace of Samuel Crompton, whose spinning-mule in 1779 changed the face of Lancashire. He lived in a tenement in the then decaying half-timbered Tudor Hall-i’-th’-Wood, which later was rescued by the 1st Lord Leverhulme, another native of the town, and converted into a noteworthy folk museum.
